The Forge Motorsport FMTUBL4 has been specifically designed for the Mini R56 stock turbo charger, and also fits the Peugeot 207/208 GTI. This turbo blanket is designed to isolate the radiant heat produced by the turbocharger. The stock Mini heat shield is inadequate and can result in warping the standard air scoop located in the bonnet.
This design has been created to withstand the harshest of environments and proven to withstand temperatures up to 2500 °f of radiant heat which will assist in protecting and prolonging the life of engine components.
Design innovation keeps the heat of the exhaust gases contained within the hot side of the turbocharger, away from the cool side and the intake path which helps reduce turbo lag and air intake temperatures resulting in more power.
Please note that a turbo blanket will lose its flexibility over the first few heat cycles as the material cures, so once fitted it should not be routinely removed as this can cause damage to the blanket.

- Ecotoxicity: Inert material. Persistence and degradation: Not biodegradable on the base of its structure.

First Aid Measures:
Eye Contact: Remove particles remaining under the eyelids. Wash well open immediately, abundantly and thoroughly with water. If irritation persists, consult an ophthalmologist.
Skin Contact: Cool skin with cold water after contact with molten compound and remove product with vegetable oil or paraffin. In case of adhesion, do not try to remove the product. Treat the affected areas as thermal burns.
Inhalation: Dust inhalation, inhalation of vapours from heated products, inhalation of vapours due to thermal decomposition. Move to fresh air and in case of persistent problems consults a doctor.
A great product, but a real pain to fit, the instructions given depict a Mini engine bay, not a 208 GTI so there’s additional parts you need to remove to get the OEM shield off. Be prepared for a lot fidgeting and sore hands because there isn’t a lot of wiggle room. The bottom bolts to the shield are a right pain but easier to get to from under the car with some guidance from another person. Fitting the blanket is simple but can be tricky to get properly aligned etc. once it’s all fitted, in my case at least it does smoke, a few drives and it should eventually stop. Particularly there’s plastic film on the forge badge on blanket which will smoke and smell. Overall a great product, just could do with updated instructions. Recommend you definitely tackle this job with an extra set of hands. Good luck if you have big hands
It's a brilliant product but a real pain to fit on an n18 engine just as well I have small arms otherwise it would require taking apart the front bumper as it is I have bruises all over my arms just because of lack of space the front 2 bolts being the worse culprits but really good now it's been fitted
Very impressed. Much bigger than I expected and obviously well put together. Really brightens up the engine bay. Incidentally I couldn’t undo the Lambda nut so instead just disconnected it and passed the end through the heatshield. Worked a treat. After taking it out for a test drive, it did smoke and smell a little but that was expected.

Do not use aggressive (acidic) car cleaning products, particularly traffic film remover solutions or shampoos to clean your intercooler, radiator, or oil cooler. The use of these products can damage Forge Motorsport cooling systems and invalidate your warranty. These are often found at car washes. A light, warm, soapy solution (free of harsh acidic cleaning compounds) should be used to clean you cooler and thoroughly rinsed away. We recommend that you should inspect your product on a regular basis for bent and/or crushed fins. Any bent fins should be carefully straightened to allow ambient air to pass through the core face. At the time of installing your Forge radiator, an approved coolant must be used and added to the coolant system. Be sure you never mix coolant and always use distilled water.
This warranty does not apply to any defect in the goods arising from fair wear and tear, wilful damage, accident, negligence by you or any third party, use otherwise than as recommended by the supplier, failure to follow the supplier’s instructions, or any alteration or repair carried out without the supplier’s approval.

I'm worried about the remaining heat in the turbo after the engine is shut off. Will/can the turbo blanket cause damage to the turbo due to “heat storage”? By the way, I always let the engine run “cold” before turning it off. Thanks for your answer.
We have not had any issues with heat storage with this or any of our turbo blankets.
