BlogInduction Kits: The Boost your Car Needs

Motorsport racing, or even just for show, an induction kit or intake is the simple and affordable solution to unlock your car's true potential. Induction kits and intakes, also known as air intakes, enable your engine to inhale air freely and, as a result, provide your car with greater horsepower, torque, and a more spirited performance.

For those new to the game, horsepower refers to the power your engine produces, and torque is a measurement of your cars ability to perform. The greater the number, the more power your car can produce. When adding an induction kit to your car, you can get up to +10BHP on average alone, but gains can fluctuate depending on the cars engine, whether it is tuned, as well as what other aftermarket parts are on the vehicle.

When you first start modifying your car, an Induction Kit is the natural first step before you start exploring other performance parts. Normally you can install Induction Kits yourself, especially as all our Forge kits come with detailed instructions of how to install, saving you some pennies from going to a garage.

In this blog, we focus on a few of our Carbon Fibre Induction Kits that we reckon make the biggest impression both aesthetically, and in terms of power.

Our infamous R32 Induction Kit 'FMIND5R32' that we released back in 2014, see's gains of up to 10BHP on stage 2 tuned vehicles over the stock air box, which is expected with the significant increase in size of the enclosed canister, and use of carbon fibre composite. We spotted this build at Ultimate Dubs 2023 by @marks_r32_lupo which features the kit, a fantastic looking vehicle that we as Forge are proud to see represent the brand.

In November 2022, we released one of our biggest induction kits to date 'FMINDK40' for the EA888 Engine. Our intention for this kit was to be able to make it cross-compatible with VAG vehicles, while also ensuring that this specific kit could fit the MK7 platform because of it's popularity. To achieve this, we utilised SolidWorks CAD, CAD simulation, and 3D prototyping to ensure optimum size and geometry. Not to mention Forge's own MK8R that we relentlessly tested on to ensure the best product for our customers.

If you couple this kit with our other aftermarket products like the Turbo Inlet Adapter 'FMTIA5', you can see gains of up to 16BHP at peak, and an average gain of 20NM torque. Paired with our matching Carbon Fibre Engine Cover 'FMEC3', it really is an eye-catching set up if you are looking to move away from the OE engine bay aesthetic.

We always try and focus on flexibility and affordability at Forge. When the Yaris GR platform was on the rise, we decided to split the Inlet Duct and Upper Airbox into two separate components, especially as we wanted to stick with the Carbon Fibre look. The output of this set up resulted in 'FMINLD1' Inlet Duct and 'FMINDK43' Induction Kit. The Induction Kit can give you an average of 13BHP alone, without the added Inlet Duct and other aftermarket product improvements.

We often use this set-up as an example of the sheer scale of engineering that goes into each of our Induction Kits and Intakes. In more recent years, it has been a pleasure to have the opportunity to use state of the art equipment to develop our products, especially as the outcome is proving to be fundamental in influencing the future of Forge Motorsport and Forge Engineering

So why should YOU get one? It's an upgrade that pays for itself not just in performance gains, but also in the pure joy it brings every time you venture out. It's a predominantly easy installation that you can do on your driveway, and an investment that lasts a lifetime, especially with the Lifetime Warranty that Forge offers.
